It Is Going To Be Okay is about the role of news media as mediators: of truth, of violence, and of distances. Collages made from found images mask real portraits of those most brutally affected—and wounded—by the horrors of war. But the new face cannot heal or hide the bleeding. As the faces change, so too does the audio, from Chopin to the everyday sounds of a war zone, all on loop. The first video image hangs against a backdrop of a borderless map. Aerial photos from cities currently torn by war are captured on Google Maps but look abstract and unrecognizable. This juxtaposition between an extreme long shot and a distorted close up brings to the fore how distance—both emotional and geographical—can affect our perception of reality.
Video installation, digital collages of children hurt by war on a screen a few meters before a map projected on a wall.
