Through visual, sound and kinetic devices, Jean-Pierre Gauthier poetically brings together chance, control, disorder, chaos, accidents. He deconstructs, diverts, assembles, tinkers, but also creates and composes. In his installations, sounds and shapes unfurl in an invasive and sprawling manner. More systemic than robotic, his works are conceived as interconnected and reactive systems in which visitors have the roles of triggers and generators. These installations have a performative dimension; they unfold, activate, get worked up, bustle, groan, wear out, stop.
